A Comprehensive Survey of Verification and Privacy-Preserving for Vehicular Ad Hoc Network

Shaji K.A. Theodore, Dr.K. Rajiv Gandhi, Dr.V. Palanisamy

It's becoming increasingly important to use a Vehicular ad hoc network (or VANET) in conjunction with other emerging technologies like intelligent transportation schemes (ITS) and a vehicular social network (VSN). Value-added services delivered by VANET enhance the overall travel experience by facilitating communication among vehicles and among vehicles and infrastructure. When it comes to safety and non-safety signals being exchanged between connected vehicles, they are susceptible to threats to both security and privacy. An authentication protocol must be implemented into VANET in order to protect communications from interception and maintain user privacy. The taxonomy of authentication systems in VANET has been discussed in length in this survey article. Security, privacy, and scalability requirements have been compared to the authentication techniques.
