A Survey on Content based Image Retrival Using Autoencoders

K.S. Aiswarya, N. Santhi and K. Ramar

Content Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) Algorithms have many advantages over text based Image Retrieval(TBIR). TBIR based image retrieval is the old technique. CBIR is the latest technique which utilizes visual features in the images for extracting the features. Literature survey shows there are many efficient and fast CBIR techniques. Autoencoders based CBIR technique is one among them, where the low dimensionality approach is followed. Thus autoencoders based techniques are of significant use when it comes to mobile based image retrieval algorithms where bandwidth is the major bottleneck. This paper discusses the basic autoencoder based architecture and its advantages.
