EFFECTIVENESS OF EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE ON ASSERTIVENESS AMONG ADULTS

The major objective of the present study is to assess the influence of Emotional intelligence on Assertiveness in adults. Emotional intelligence is the ability to understand, use, and manage your own emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, communicate effectively, and empathize with others. Overcome challenges and defuse conflict. Assertiveness is the quality of being self-assured and confident without being aggressive to defend a right point of view or a relevant statement The tools used for this present study are The Schutte self report Emotional Intelligence Test (SSEIT), which consist of 33 items and the items are scored on a 5 point Likert scale (1= strongly disagree to 5= strongly agree). The SSEIT yields a total score ranging from 33 to 165 with higher scores indicating greater emotional intelligence The Second tool is, Rathus Assertive Schedule, which consists of 30 items and the items are scored by adding all the positive responses. The scoring weights for the asterisked items are reversed. Total score obtained by summing item scores after correcting for reversed scoring weights. The reliability of SSEIT is (Cronbach's Alpha=0.79) and of RAS is (Cronbach's Alpha = 0.82). The samples are collected from the adults between the age of 18- 50. Sample size is 100. The collected data are analyzed using mean, standard deviation, t-test. ANOVA, and regression by SPSS 20.
