FUNCTIONAL STRATEGIES FOR MANAGING INDIAN GARMENT INDUSTRY
The study on “Functional Strategies for Managing Indian Garment Industry” was undertaken in the context of learning the changing patterns of business in the Indian garment exports trade. Tirupur the “Town of Export Excellence” is occupying a predominant position today in the world textile market. The Tirupur garment industry contributes to nearly 60% of the country’s total exports. This export zone alone has contributed more than Rs.5000 crores of business through almost 7000 firms employing around 6,00,000 people directly and indirectly. To compete in the world market in the post quota regime companies follow certain world-class strategies. This study aims at learning and recommending such functional strategies. This study on had been conducted to bring out a model on ‘Functional Strategies’ in garment industry.
