Abstract :
The components and communication techniques play an important role in developing a network. Apart from the components and technologies, there are architectures, layers and routing, etc., which are necessary for designing a communication network. A network needs to be viewed from these necessary angles; for example, layered architecture, IP over AON (All Optical Network), types of AONs, basic architectural forms of AONs and routing. This paper presents a comprehensive review of AONs in recent use and provides a list of related issues.
